Meet our team of veterinary professionals.

Dr. Danielle Lorenzo

Dr. Danielle Lorenzo purchased the Florence Animal Clinic, formerly known as Berens Animal Hospital, from Dr. Mark Berens in December 2011. After earning a BA in English from Skidmore College and an MA in journalism from Indiana University, she worked in publishing for 10 years before deciding to attend veterinary school. She graduated with a DVM from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr. Lorenzo’s professional interests lie mainly in small animal internal medicine, with an emphasis on wellness and preventive care.

Dr. Lorenzo lives in Southampton. Her small farm has been home, at various times, to sheep, goats, a llama, angora rabbits, and a variety of cats. Her hobbies include music, weaving, hand-spinning, running, hiking, and tennis.

Dr. Jennifer Kefer

Dr. Jennifer Kefer

Dr. Jennifer Kefer grew up in New York and pursued a B.S. degree in social work from Skidmore College. She then traveled west to get both a master’s degree in anatomy and her veterinary degree from Colorado State University. Dr. Kefer has traveled to Guatemala, Peru and Mexico to provide veterinary services to animals in remote villages. She is also a certified animal acupuncturist and enjoys providing this service to patients with a variety of ailments. During her free time, Dr. Kefer enjoys a multitude of outdoor adventures with her family.

Kellie

Kellie

Kellie, our practice manager, is a native of Florence. She has been a technician at the clinic since 2002. Kellie has a great love of animals and family. At work, she especially enjoys phlebotomy and being the head surgical technician. Kellie’s family includes her children, her three dogs: Baylee, Fig, Chowdah, and her six cats: Carrot, Elwood, Daphne, Sparrow, Forest, and Ophelia.

Alisa

Alisa

Alisa has been a technician at the clinic since January 2008. She has a bachelor’s degree in animal behavior from the University of Maryland and is certified in small animal massage. Alisa works in animal rescue and has a passion for fostering cats in need and cat behavior. She also sits on the board of the Northampton SPCA. She shares her home with eleven cats: Bumble Bee, Purrciville Rumbles, Tub-a-lub, Gator, Baggle, Wasabi, Arugula, Quiet Wyatt, Orville, Brisket and Coleslaw . She has also made space for her dogs Benson and Junibea, her husband Kevin, and her son Lando.

Anne

Anne

Anne has been a technician at Florence Animal Clinic since 2007. She graduated from Holyoke Community College in 2008 with an associate’s degree in veterinary technology and animal sciences. She then went on to obtain a PhD in 2017 from the University of Massachusetts in the field of conservation wildlife. She lives in Easthampton with her cat, Fluffy, and associated snakes and turtles. In her spare time, she teaches chemistry and biology at Holyoke Community College.

Kristi

Kristi

Kristi graduated from Holyoke Community College in 2008 with an associate’s degree in veterinary technology and animal sciences. She has been a technician at the clinic since March 2011 and is the assistant surgery technician. She also sits on the board of the Northampton SPCA. Horses have been her passion and hobby for the last 17 years. She also enjoys training dogs and horses as well as keeping up to date on their nutritional needs. Kristi stays busy outside of the clinic trail riding and hiking. She shares her small farm with her two horses Fancy and Ember, her dogs Arrow and Amara and her three cats Finna, Heru and Kovu.

Stephanie

Stephanie

Stephanie has been working at the clinic part time on and off since 2008. She has a bachelor’s degree in Animal science from UMass. Even though now she mostly works full-time as a RN we love having her help around the clinic. She is mostly seen in the exam rooms assisting the doctors a couple days of the week. She shares a home with her girlfriend Staci along with many animals at her ever growing little farm in Chester. They have 4 goats: Mashka, Gloria, Buffy, and Floret. 5 rescue dogs: English mastiff Mavis, King Charles Winston, Chihuahua mix Walter, English bulldog, Belushi, shih tzu Dottie. 9 cats: Hunter, Sasha, Bodhi, Gordon, Joan Jett, Lotus, Old lady, and Omaha. Plus 2 rabbits Gibson and MGK.

Yana

Yana

Yana has been working at the clinic since November, 2021. She began her career in 2017 and has loved it ever since. She is one of the room techs and you will often find her helping clients at the front desk. Yana lives with her husband, Samuel and their dog, Julius. Yana enjoys hiking and good coffee.

Shannon

Shannon

Shannon has been working at the clinic since March of 2022. She is one of the clinic room techs and you will often find her cuddling the visiting pets. Shannon lives with her two cats, MacDaddy and Ludacris. Shannon also enjoys pet sitting and spending time with friends on her days off.
